Hearing & Vision Program: The Council on Aging can assist with the cost of hearing aids and exams as well as eye glasses and exams. To qualify, St. Clair County residents must be 60 years of age or older and be at or below 200% of the federal poverty guidelines. For more information, call 810-984-5061 or your local senior center.
Medical Loan Closet: The Medical Loan Closet is a program in which medical equipment is lent to seniors recovering from illness or injury. Equipment Types: Hospital Beds, power wheelchairs, transfer benches, walkers, wheelchairs, transport chairs, shower chairs, shower benches, commodes, canes. Disposable items such as adult undergarments (sizes and styles vary) blue pads, liners/booster pads. Miscellaneous other medical supplies available. Please call to check for availability.
Senior Nutrition: Our Senior Nutrition Services are a vital component of our goal to enhance the lives and health of seniors and help them remain independent. These services include Home Delivered Meals (Meals on Wheels), F.E.A.S.T., and Congregate Sites where seniors can gather to eat and socialize. These services are available for seniors 60 or older who are residents of St. Clair County. For more information, or to arrange for meal delivery for yourself or an acquaintance, call (810) 982-4400 or 1-800-297-0099.
Transportation: Mobility can be a prime factor in determining whether or not a senior is able to live independently. For over 50 years, the Council on Aging has been assisting with this need by providing door to door pick-up and return transportation service for seniors and the disabled throughout St. Clair County. Our fleet includes Michigan Department of Transportation handicapped vans which are capable of transporting those who are wheelchair bound, along with additional vans and cars. https://thecouncilonaging.org/transportation
