DESCRIPTION
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul Detroit is a Catholic nonprofit providing assistance and supportive services to people experiencing poverty and hardship. Its programs address basic needs including food, housing, utilities, education, transportation, and youth development.

SERVICES & PROGRAMS:

• Home Visits: Local St. Vincent de Paul members visit people in need to provide assistance, listen to their concerns, and connect them with available resources.
• Rent Assistance: Assists with past-due rent payments, but availability and eligibility vary.
• Heat & Energy Assistance: MEAP Funded Energy Assistance Programs help clients with past-due bills.
• Food Assistance: Food assistance is provided through the Community Market and Matchan Nutrition Center, helping individuals and families access nutritious food.
• Education & Mentorship: Educational and mentoring programs help children and young people with academic and personal development.
• Summer Camps: Free overnight summer camp programs for children experiencing economic hardship, including Traditional Camp for ages 8–12, Adventure Camp for ages 13–14, and a Staff-in-Training program for ages 15–16.
• Thrift Stores & Donation Centers: Operates stores and donation centers that provide donated goods to the community and generate revenue to support their programs.

Call to register. The intake representative will assess your need, and explain any documentation needed. Note that some processes can take up to 2 weeks for processing.
