The Air Conditioner Assistance Program waitlist is currently closed.

The waitlist opens once per year from noon to 4 pm on the third Tuesday of February. The Air Conditioner Assistance Program waitlist will be opened again in February of 2027.

Note: Should we receive more interest in our program than we can serve in one year, we will hold a lottery to identify the residents we can help in 2026 with a new air conditioner. We will hold the actual 2026 AC lottery drawing on February 19th. We will send letters with the lottery results within two weeks.

Please call our office about other services that can possibly be provided. The Weatherization Assistance Program can perform a wide variety of valuable improvements. The Weatherization program is free of charge, and residents do not have to be added to a waitlist.

The AC installation program offers central air conditioner installations for eligible Washtenaw County residents. Work offered through this program will be based on the following prioritization criteria in no particular order:

Documented medical need:                                                                                                                                                                                      Applicants must provide a doctor’s note which indicates that a resident’s health would benefit from the installation of a central air conditioner
Age of applicant and other household members
Rental properties are not eligible for this program.

In certain cases, the Air Conditioner Assistance Program requires a 5-year forgivable property lien to be placed on the home for all residents wishing to participate. The property lien is 0% interest, does not require any monthly payments, and is forgiven after 5 years.
