STATUS: Open
CLIENTS SERVED:Â Student must be a Veteran receiving Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits at the 100% benefit rate payable or be a transfer-of-entitlement-eligible dependent child.
DESCRIPTION: The Yellow Ribbon G.I. Education Enhancement Program was enacted to potentially assist eligible individuals with payment of their tuition fees in instances where costs exceed the in-state tuition charges at a public institution or the national maximum payable at private and foreign institutions.
SERVICES / PROGRAMS:  The program covers tuition and fees beyond the GI Bill cap / The VA matches the school’s contribution dollar-for-dollar / Each school sets its own contribution limits and the number of students it will support per term / Payments are made directly to the school, not the student
HOW TO APPLY: 1. Check school participation: Use the VA’s GI Bill Comparison Tool to confirm if your school participates in the Yellow Ribbon Program. 2. Submit an application: Complete the school’s Yellow Ribbon application, typically through the Veterans Affairs or military student services office. 3. Coordinate with VA: The school will certify your enrollment and benefits with the VA, which then matches the contribution.
Additional Notes:Â The program is available for both undergraduate and graduate students. Veterans can combine Yellow Ribbon benefits with other GI Bill entitlements, including housing and book stipends / Schools may limit the number of students or the amount of funding per year, so early application is recommended / The Yellow Ribbon Program is a valuable resource for veterans seeking higher education at institutions where tuition exceeds standard GI Bill coverage, ensuring access to quality education without excessive financial burden
