CLIENTS SERVED: Primarily marginalized women and their children, including female heads of household, recent refugee families, seniors, and individuals experiencing poverty or crisis. Many clients live below the federal poverty level and may face barriers related to language, transportation, childcare, employment, housing, healthcare, or education.

DESCRIPTION: Zaman International is a nonprofit organization that helps women and children move from crisis toward stability and self-sufficiency. Its services combine basic-needs assistance and case management with education, workforce development, vocational training, healthcare, and employment opportunities to help families overcome barriers and break the cycle of poverty.

PROGRAMS/SERVICES

• Basic Needs & Case Management: Food, clothing, emergency assistance, and individualized case management for women, children, and qualifying families. Call for intake: (313) 429-1245.
• Client Choice Food Pantry: Monthly food assistance allowing eligible clients to select culturally appropriate and nutritious foods.
• Emergency Relief: Assistance with urgent household needs and connections to benefits and community resources.
• Community Health Center: Healthcare services for enrolled Zaman clients, including culturally responsive care.
• English Literacy/ESL: Tuition-free English and literacy instruction for adults preparing for employment or postsecondary education. (Zaman International)
• Workforce & Vocational Training: Tuition-free training through BOOST, including sewing, industrial sewing, culinary arts, entrepreneurship, and career development.
• Career & Employment Support: Assistance connecting program graduates with employment, workforce partners, and sustainable career opportunities.
• Good Deeds Resale Shop: Free selection of clothing and household goods for eligible clients; the public can also purchase low-cost donated items, with proceeds supporting Zaman programs.
• Orphan Hope: Basic needs and ongoing support for children who have lost a parent, locally and internationally.
• International Humanitarian Relief: Disaster and crisis assistance provided through international partners.
• Clean Water Initiatives: Supports clean-water projects through international partnerships.

PROGRAM: Bayt Al-Zahra Case Management Program
CLIENTS SERVED: Primarily female heads of household and their children, recent refugee families, seniors, and individuals experiencing poverty or crisis.
SERVICES: Individualized case management, needs assessment, emergency assistance, food and clothing, resource referrals, and support with housing, employment/finances, childcare, education, healthcare, transportation, and other barriers to self-sufficiency.

SERVICES: ESL/English literacy, pre-GED, job readiness, entrepreneurship, financial and health literacy, garment and industrial sewing, and culinary arts training.

PROGRAM: Plots for Tots – Infant Burial Program
CLIENTS SERVED: Families experiencing financial hardship who have lost a fetus, infant, or toddler.
SERVICES: Assistance with infant burial arrangements, burial resources and plots, hospital discharge support, and culturally and religiously appropriate burial services.
